I discovered the art of mosaic in 2001. My mom was watching AM Northwest and the host was showing off a mosaic flower pot he had made. My mom loved it so much that she went right out and found some scrap glass. She made half a flower pot and decided she did not like the process. She gave me the glass so I could make flower pots with my students. A friend of mine was making flower pot mosaics so I invited him to help lead the lesson. The teens enjoyed making the activity and I was interested in making more. I took the glass home and started breaking it up with a hammer and creating mosaics. I had yet to discover there were tools I could use to adjust the size and shape of the glass.
